We always start each day with good intentions, but by the time 5pm rolls around and it feels like we’ve been chasing our tail all day and that deadline is looming closer and closer, it can be hard to stay on top of things.

Sunday nights are spent panicking about the work that needs to get done tomorrow, and on and on it goes, while you curse yourself for not being more organised.

By just setting aside a small amount of time and implanting these simple tools and techniques, you can start to organise your life and hopefully get a little bit of time back for yourself.

  1. Setup email rules

Reading, sorting and replying to emails can take up a massive amount of time, setting email rules allows your inbox to automatically organise and prioritise emails.

An easy rule to start with is creating an ‘Inbox – CC’ folder. This folder receives all of the emails that aren’t addressed directly to you, thus focusing your inbox on your most important/relevant emails.

You can set rules by going to File>Info>Rules & Alerts, where you can create your own or use the templates already stored in Outlook.

  1. Password manager

Do you have so many different passwords that logging into something feels like memory testing?

A good password manager will remember all your passwords so you only need to remember one. It will also generate strong and unique passwords for you to use and save them securely.

  1. Utilise OneNote

OneNote is one of those programs you probably already have installed on your computer but have never bothered to investigate.

OneNote is a great tool for taking and organising your notes, keeping track of meeting items and collaborating with others on projects or events.

We’ve put together some Tech Tip videos based on OneNote and how you can get started using it.

  1. Use your phone assistant

Use Google Assistant or Siri to quickly set appointments, check your calendar or see what the weather forecast is so you don’t forget a coat.

Just say “Hey Siri” or “Ok Google” (depending on your device) and tell it what you want it to do, perfect for when you’re on the run or don’t have time to sit down at your computer.

  1. Move to the Cloud

If your business uses a Cloud Platform you can access all your company files and data from anywhere with an internet connection as everything is stored securely in the Cloud.

Being able to access your business from anywhere means you can work from anywhere! You don’t have to waste time waiting at the airport because you can’t access the latest file to work on, or stall a project because a key member is out of the office.

The accessibility of the cloud means you can manage your entire business effectively and efficiency, giving you time to take a step back and work on your business, not in it.
